Why?

Our customer came to us with the desire to design a new product that they wanted to sell to restaurants and pubs.

The problem they wanted to solve was the fact that the restaurant clients often request to charge their phones, but many restaurant owners don't want or can install USB ports on every table.

What?

Their vision was a tabletop wireless charger that features an internal powerbank powerful enough to charge 4 phones simoultaneously through the day so that it could be charged during the night, after the service is over.

Our goals was to design the product and validate the idea in the shortest amount of time, in order for our customer to decide whether to move forward or not.

How?

In order to validate the interest of the customers in the idea, we designed what the customer envisioned and manufactured a small batch of functional prototypes to be tested.

In parallel, with the goal of validating the feasibility of manufacturing such a product at scale, we traveled to Shenzhen (China) to scout suppliers and identify the right factory for the product obtaining precise quotations and production  timelines.

And then?

Our final analysis of the tests with customers and suppliers showed that the functional requirements resulted in a manufacturing price that was above what the customers were willing to pay, and therefore we advised our clients to stop the project.
